Chief Executive Officer

Dan Salazar

As President, CEO, and founder of the company, Dan has established Novus Insight as a leading provider of comprehensive IT services. His experience across many industries combined with deep knowledge of nonprofits, education, and local government have led to Novus’ reputation as an industry innovator and continuous growth for 12 years. One good example of the innovation is pioneering a cooperative private cloud model for IT infrastructure that is now widely deployed in Connecticut.

Born out of a 3-person initiative inside of a nonprofit, Novus was created to develop and deliver services not otherwise available or affordable. Dan’s mission for Novus is to use technology to creatively solve problems in education, social services, and government. He is also passionate about developing software solutions that meaningfully benefit unserved or underserved nonprofit causes. This, together with the tireless work of his equally impassioned colleagues, is what drives the company to continually achieve its goal of highly satisfying Novus clients.

Dan’s experience as a teacher, education/government IT director, nonprofit IT leader, and lifelong technology enthusiast informs the company direction at all times. Outside the office, you can find Dan in the gym, playing drums, or joining his wife Allyson in cheering on their 2 teenage daughters in their latest endeavors.

Chief Technology Officer, CISSP

Greg Bugbee

Greg’s focus is evaluating client’s critical data, security, and business processes towards creating greater efficiency and sustainable organizational capacity. Recently, Greg has spearheaded efforts to deploy solutions that foster data sharing and collaboration between NGOs, foundations, and government entities. Greg’s other interests include cycling, kayaking, and parenting his five cats and two Chihuahuas.

Derek Lemery

Derek holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Networking from Wentworth Institute of Technology, and has 10 years of experience in infrastructure administration and consulting. As Director of Operations, Derek ensures that all organizational technical operations run smoothly and efficiently. When not working, Derek still spends a fair amount of his time on computers, spends time with family and friends, and plays with his dog, Noah.

Chief Information Officer

Robert Malt

Bob has a passion for client relationship management, VMware infrastructures, disaster recovery, strategic planning and enterprise networking. In his previous career, Bob was a corporate pilot flying a Citation Sovereign as a captain, a licensed aircraft mechanic for TWA, and a certified flight instructor. Outside his professional career, Bob enjoys family camping trips, hiking, woodworking and boating.

AltruLink Brand Director/Data Architect

Alex Cohen

Alex oversees client implementation efforts and is a key conduit between clients and the Novus app dev team. Alex spent over 20 years with the largest retail grocery co-op in the US, honing his passion for process design, strategic planning, and data analysis. He holds a BS in Business Management from The University of Connecticut. Alex is instrumental in developing creative and effective data solutions for our clients. When he’s not at the office, Alex enjoys writing and recording music, strength training, and gaming with his sons.

Director, Application Development

Herbert Lierzer

Herbert heads up the AltruLink application development team and has been the lead developer of the AltruLink system since its inception.

Herbert is a Software Developer with over a decade of experience, graduating from the University of Technology Graz, Austria with a BSc. in Computer Science. After founding his own online art platform in 2007, he focused on mobile & web non-profit solutions in 2013. He enjoys radio-plays, computers, hiking and making music.

Strategic Partnership Manager

Joe McGrattan

Joe manages Novus’ strategic relationships while also working with schools and other organizations to advise on how they can better manage and leverage their critical data.

Joe has a B.S. in Marketing and over 20 years experience with business development and partner management in the area of technology consulting. He is a lifelong Connecticut resident who enjoys gardening, landscaping and travel in his spare time.

Bill Magnotta

Bill is an established school choice expert and a key consultant for Novus. He is a past president of Magnet Schools of America and a former Director of Goodwin University’s Magnet School Choice Institute for Excellence. He also worked at the CT State Department of Education for over 30 years.

Senior Sales Manager

Carl Fazzina

Carl leads Novus’ business development efforts, focusing on organizations that are motivated to solve pressing technology and operational challenges. Carl has an M.A. in Mass Communication, a B.A. in Communication, and 20 years of sales, development, and management experience. In his spare time, he enjoys playing table top and role playing games with friends and family.

Ken Fazzone

Ken specializes in web application development and is a key contributor to continual enhancement of the data platform AltruLink operates on.
When not at work, Ken can be found reading sci-fi novels, tinkering with electronics, and playing guitar.

Kevin Nott

Kevin specializes in full stack LAMP development and has been building websites and web applications for over 15 years. He is an avid board game enthusiast and considers a bicycle the best way to travel.

Melanie Harrison

Melanie is the glue that keeps AltruLink operating efficiently and responsively to clients, partners and vendors. The unsung hero at AltruLink who works diligently behind the scenes in ways that are critical to us being able to maintain so many long-term client relationships. She is an avid cook and loves to travel, hike, and kayak.
